About Me

Hi,

I'm Jesse Waites, a software architect, AI consultant, and multidisciplinary developer & designer based in Boston, Massachusetts. I craft thoughtful, high-performance digital experiences that connect people, data, and design. My work spans software architecture, full-stack engineering with Ruby on Rails, mobile development with Hotwire Native, and modern AI-assisted workflows to bring ambitious ideas to life across web, iOS, Android, macOS, and beyond.

As an AI consultant, I help teams figure out where AI actually earns its place in a product, then design and build it: integrating large language models into existing apps, turning complex manual processes into AI-powered workflows, and setting up coding agents so developers ship faster. You can see some of that work on my AI projects page.

Here's a fun fact about me: I was one of the first iPhone app developers on the planet! I had an app for sale on Apple's iPhone App Store on day one of the App Store opening. I went on to write a book about managing the process of developing a mobile app and still develop mobile apps to this day.

I'm especially passionate about the intersection of software architecture, web development, and AI-assisted software development, blending standard software craftsmanship with high-performance AI tools such as Claude and Codex. I write about that regularly on my blog.

Whether building software for ice climbers, designing elegant UI systems for the Apple Watch, or integrating AI tools into what were formerly complex manual processes, I care deeply about quality, clarity, and creativity in everything I build. Browse my portfolio for more.

If you're looking for a software architect or AI consultant, or you'd just like to chat, send me an email here.
